Psst! Aitch! Remember me?

Posted on 2009.02.28 at 23:07
Happy birthday, dearest friend! I sincerely wish you all the best in the world. I hope you're doing great, wherever life has taken you this past year.

I am sorry I haven't been around, but my absence does not mean I don't think about you. I do!

I am a mom now. I am actually someones mom. Still freaks me out. Her name is Nenya and she will be three months old tomorrow.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AITCH

Posted on 2008.02.28 at 14:55
A very, very happy birthday to the lovely and multi-talented [info]initial_aitch who I am proud to call friend!

I wish you all the best on your plans for the future - a future which I hope will one day lead you to my corner of the world. Otherwise, I will come to you.

I actually had a dream about you the other night. Not really sure what it was about, but you were definitely in it. Weird to dream about someone you've never meat. Weird but nice. You are welcome in my dreams anytime! :)

Enjoy your day!

Project Baby

Current Location: My living room
Current Mood: contemplative
Current Music: Gorm's relentless wining

It has been a long time. A very long time. I have been staying at my summer house for the past six months, but now I am back at my winter domicile: my warm and cosy apartment with long, hot showers, 30+ channels on the TV, and most importantly, maybe: a steady Internet connection. Internet-wise, this summer has been a nightmare. I am not going to drag you through the entire story of agony, but simply state that it has been frustrating beyond belief. I was constantly promised that things would get better, but they never really did. In the end I simply resigned to the fact that I would forever remain offline and cut off from LJ and all other pleasures of the Web.

Enough wining. I am back online. Yay!

Some news from my RL. Workwise, I have temporally returned to the youth- and tourist information where I worked part time while I was studying. It is just till the end of the year, but for now it is nice to be back among friends.

After I finish at the youth information I am not sure what will happen. I know one thing, though: my priorities have changed and I now feel sure that I want to have baby. Or at least try. The idea of having children has been growing on me the last year, and since I am 37, I don’t exactly have a lot of time.  Ergo, I have to do something. Now.

But for obvious reasons I cannot do it entirely on my own. I am still single, so the question of who the potential father should be has been problematic. On quite an early stage I abandoned the possibility of using an anonymous sperm donor, except as a last resort. But sperm donations from known donors are pretty expensive in Denmark, and even apart from the money issue, I wasn’t too thrilled about that solution either. So after some serious consideration I decided to ask my friend S to donate. And he said yes!

To make an extremely long story short we are now ready to give it a go. We are not going to have sex, though. For me, sex changes things and our relationship is about to alter enough as it is. Besides, I am not romantically or sexually interested in S. Never have been, and as far as I know, he feels the same way. So no sex. Instead, S will come by my house next time I am ovulating and masturbate into a cup. Then he will leave and I will play doctor with myself.

Sounds rash? Insane? Or just very, very stupid? I know, and I feel the same way. I can easily come up with a thousand good reasons for not doing this. A million good reasons. But I prefer regretting that I did it, while I am drowning in dirty diapers and lamenting the lost chance of ever having a career, instead of waking up at 45 and regret not to at least have tried.

Hey, I might turn out to be as barren as a desert, which will solve the problem.

Except, in that case there is adoption to consider. Hmm…

Maybe I should just get some more cats.

Current Music: Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Just got back from the opening of PotC III last night. I am in a bit of a shock. How could they?!

Well, I will be distracted soon enough. I am going to see Linkin Park and 30 Seconds to Mars live tonight. I looove 30 Seconds to Mars. And no, it has nothing to do with Jared Leto being beyond hot. Come on, what do you take me for? Some pathetic fan girl? Please.

Sadly, there will not be time to hang around the back stage door or anything since I have to get up tomorrow morning at 4am(!) to go to London. The time has finally come for M and me to experience Dan Rad in the flesh.

Yay.

I am sick. No one is more pathetic and self-pitying when they are sick than me. Must be my masculine side.

But I have better get well soon. Friday, B and I will go to Paris for the weekend to visit our mutual friend T.

T is the sweetest little homo who I met through B a few years back. He is 20 something, looks like the impossible lovechild between Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood, and speaks English with that endearing French accent, so naturally I have a huge crush on him. Too bad it ain't gonna happen. Ever. Oh well, I will be alright. Paris is swarming with gorgeous men. And some of them are even straight.

Speaking of gorgeous men. The premiere of PotC III is just two weeks away. Yay! I feel better already.

Current Mood: lonely

So. Yesterday I moved out here to my summer house. For the next five months I will share my life with countless spiders, one bad Internet connection, four lousy t.v. channels, and three very, very happy cats.

The time is about 1am. The house is pretty cold by now even though the weather has been great all day. I am watching a crappy version of Aliens on t.v. and I feel a little lonely. Or homesick. Nothing major. I love my house and my garden, it just always takes me a day or two to adjust to living here. But I will be fine soon.

Meme of the day

Posted on 2007.03.28 at 21:30
My LJ is on the verge of turning in to one big meme.

This one I picked up over at [info]cluegirl

1. What is a question that people ask you that always gets on your nerves?
Just about anything relating to my lack of job, boyfriend/husband, and children. No, it has more to do with who is doing the asking, really.

2. Name something you have in common with all your siblings.
An oversized lust for sugar and fat.

3. What is the greatest amount of physical pain you have ever endured?
The un-diagnosed stomach infection that put me in the hospital a few years ago.

4. What number of drinks constitutes your limit?
Sometimes I get drunk and sick after a few drinks, other times I am a bottomless pit.

5. Do you fold your underwear?
No. If I did I would seek psychiatric help.

6. Who is the last person you wrote a letter to?
I don't write letters.

7. Have you fired a gun before?
Yes, a shotgun. My dad and I target practice for fun from time to time. I am no good, though.

8. What are your favorite flowers?
No favorites. Love them all.

9. What was your favorite childhood toy?
My crayons. I used to draw all the time. Wonder when I stopped and why...

10. Name a sound that disturbs you.
My cats crying in frustration when we move back from the summerhouse.

11. Name something random that you would never do.
Shower at the gym.

12. Name a person whose diary you would love to read.
Severus Snape.

13. Have you ever had the same dream more than once?
I have a variety of dreams and fractions of dreams that often reoccur.

14. Name a song that makes you sentimental.
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Well, it makes me melancholy more than sentimental. Sentimental would be Marian by The Sisters of Mercy.

15. Name something that made you laugh this week.
The Danish satire show The Heroes of Flemming. Absurd and grotesque. Cracks me up.

16. How old were you when you received your first kiss?
Involving tongue? 14. It was horrible and truly traumatic.

17. If you could change lives with any celebrity who would it be.
JK Rowling. That way I could re-write Harry's and Draco's relationship the way it should be. And I could bring Sirius back. Just to mention a few things.

18. If you were in an emergency situation and you had to deliver a baby, could you do it?
I hope so. Women have helped each other giving birth forever.

19. What do you like about being in a committed relationship?
I like the theoretical idea of someone catching me when I fall.

20. What do you dislike about being in a committed relationship?
Compromising, disappointments, frustration, boredom, claustrophobia.

24. What is on your refrigerator door?
Lots of stickers, magnets, comic strips, the menu from the Thai take-away down the the street, a LotR calender, a HP poster, my Equus ticket.

25. Name the closest thing to you that is green.
My living room walls. Most things in my living room are green.

26. If someone who didn't know you had to guess your name, what would they guess?
Absolutely no idea. Weird question.

27. Name something you have to do tomorrow.
Write what feels like my 75848939th job application.

28. Name a movie you are looking forward to watching.
OotP. And PotC III.

29. Have you ever called 911?
Yes. But it turned out to be nothing and I hung up before the call was answered.

30. Name something you've heard about women that tends to be true.
We ejaculate tears.

Me!

G Songs

Posted on 2007.03.18 at 22:41
Ask in the comments and I will give you a letter. Then post your top ten songs beginning with that letter.

[info]initial_aitch gave me the letter G and these are my favorite G songs in no particular order.

http://download.yousendit.com/D9989BF640EB903B
Galadriel’s Song of Eldamar by The Tolkien Ensemble. I absolutely adore this band that has put all the songs and poems from The Lord of the Rings books to music. This is a particular beautiful one, I think.

http://download.yousendit.com/7D6016721D667D86
Ghost Town by The Specials. I love ska in general and The Specials in particular.

http://download.yousendit.com/A12E24D10E97D2C4
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
by ABBA. I once heard ABBA’s music described as being completely without trace of blues notes, which apparently is what sets it apart from most rock music, and makes it pop in its most true form. I like that; pop in its true form.

http://download.yousendit.com/8A85990C001C2129
Girls on Film
by Duran Duran. The essence of the eighties and the sound of my early teens.

http://download.yousendit.com/934F53AB6869B58B
God Save the Queen by The Sex Pistols. It doesn’t get any more classic than this if you ask me.

http://download.yousendit.com/775CD19C19E5DD3A
God’s Favourite by Disneyland After Dark. I lived and breathed this band when I was seventeen. I have seen them perform and sung along with this song numerous times.

http://download.yousendit.com/DDF3DEDB6BF64E8D
Gone by Viggo Mortensen. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I am a pathetic fan girl, I know. Can’t help it. But that aside I actually enjoy Viggo’s strange and collage-like music and this one is a personal favourite. Oh, and the voice belongs to Elijah Wood. Fan girl strikes again ;)

http://download.yousendit.com/EFB2BF295200C2CA
Good Morning Judge by 10CC. My big sister was a huge 10CC fan in the seventies and I listened in.

http://download.yousendit.com/2900667D7D69FA03
Goodbye Blue Sky by Pink Floyd. This song is from The Wall – an album that has had a tremendous impact on me since it came into my life in 1979. First I hated it (I was nine, mind you), later I came to love it dearly and if I could bring only one cd with me to a deserted island The Wall could very well be it.

http://download.yousendit.com/E4E0033627D43FCD
(The) Guns of Brixton by The Clash. Possibly my favourite The Clash song.

Nice going; eight out of ten songs are at least twenty years old. Hmm...

The L Word(s)

Posted on 2006.11.28 at 01:14

"Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own."

[info]initial_aitch, who I am proud to call friend, gave me the letter L:

  • Laura Palmer
  • . Twin Peaks knocked me off my feet when it first aired. Think it was in 1990. To this day it still awes me. ’Look into the light, Leland, into the light.’
  • Lisa Lewis
  • . The editor of the anthology The Adoring Audience – my first sociological introduction to the subject of fandom. The book has meant a great deal to me throughout my studies; several papers would not have been written without it.
  • Lists
  • . The kind I make with my girlfriends where we each list our personal Top 50 of the hottest male celebrities in the world, put them all together, and create a jointed list. Always the best of fun. How many can you list? ;)
  • Livejournal
  • . An endless source of fun, information, and genuine friendship.
  • London
  • . Not that I have done that much travelling, but London is my favourite place in the world.
  • Lord of the Rings
  • (surprise!). No other piece of popular culture has ever had such a huge impact on me.
  • Lost
  • . One of the best tv-series around. And Josh Holloway is hot.
  • Lubricant
  • . So much chan-slash depend on it.
  • Lucius Malfoy
  • . Coolest dad in the history of fathers.
  • Lycanthropy
  • . I have been a sucker for werewolves and vampires for as long as I can remember.

They came in the mail today. The tickets for Equus next year in London - the play that will be Daniel Radcliffe's first serious stage performance. Dan will star opposite Richard Griffiths aka Uncle Vernon. With such a cast not going was really never an option for me.

There are rumors of Dan doing a nude scene. Do I dare to hope? Bet there is some stupid clause in his Warner Brothers contract preventing him from taking part in such indecencies. Damn.

Guess I will have to make do with the breathtaking poster then http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/11/radcliffe_468x664.jpg Disturbing yet hot.

I made it! After six years of studying and one last exam yesterday I am now an authorized sociologist.

Surreal. But in a good way. A very, very good way.

A huge bonus is that my not very nice advisor, who all along has shown little more than contempt for my work, made a Jekyll/Hyde (or Hyde/Jekyll) trick and ended up giving me a 10 (which equals an A, I am told) and lots of praise. Both she and the external examiner advised me to try and get my thesis published! How great is that?? :D

Anyway, I am beyond relief and extremely happy that it is all over. At long last.

My life as a student is coming to an end. Friday this week is the day for my final exam where I will defend my thesis in front of my not very nice advisor and an external professor.

I dread it will be an excruciating experience, but I am hoping for the best, of course. And I should have enough guardian angels watching over me; Friday September 22 is not only the birthday of two of my all time favorite heroes of literature and film; Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, it is also the day where Tom 'waaay-too-young-for-me-to-have-a-crush-on' Felton aka Draco Malfoy turns 19.

If nothing else their birthday will help me remember that I have a life apart from my existence as a student.

Confession

Just a little drunken anecdote...

After finishing my thesis last Friday I went away for the weekend with 8 old class mates from elementary school. It is an annual event, we have been doing it for 20 years, and it is always great fun. It also involves a lot of heavy drinking.

This year we stayed at Thomas' house - his wife and kids had been sent to her parents.

We partied all night and at 5 o'clock in the morning, I was drunk and stoned and in my sleeping bag getting ready to sleep it off. Thomas was next to me, we were talking and given my intoxicated state I am not entirely sure how the topic came up, but suddenly I found myself explaining about fan-fiction. Erotic fan-fiction. Slash. Gay porn.

Thomas was very interested, asked a lot of questions, and I told him just about everything. How I am into chan, non-con, incest and so on. And how fics are a wonderful and unique way of letting the fantasy run free and experiment in a way that is completely safe psychically as well as emotionally.

But all good things come to an end and eventually I fell asleep.

The next evening after we had gotten tipsy once more Thomas pulled me aside. He said that he needed to confess how disturbing and boundry-trancending (is that the right word?) the talk the night before had been for him. It had, however, also left him extremely aroused and he had had to get up and go and jerk off in the living room while the rest of the house was sound asleep.

In a very weird way I considered that a compliment...
