I am sorry I haven't been around, but my absence does not mean I don't think about you. I do!
I am a mom now. I am actually someones mom. Still freaks me out. Her name is Nenya and she will be three months old tomorrow.

- a distant cousin of Frodo's aunt's nephew twice removed. Lovely singing voice
It has been a long time. A very long time. I have been staying at my summer house for the past six months, but now I am back at my winter domicile: my warm and cosy apartment with long, hot showers, 30+ channels on the TV, and most importantly, maybe: a steady Internet connection. Internet-wise, this summer has been a nightmare. I am not going to drag you through the entire story of agony, but simply state that it has been frustrating beyond belief. I was constantly promised that things would get better, but they never really did. In the end I simply resigned to the fact that I would forever remain offline and cut off from LJ and all other pleasures of the Web.
Enough wining. I am back online. Yay!
Some news from my RL. Workwise, I have temporally returned to the youth- and tourist information where I worked part time while I was studying. It is just till the end of the year, but for now it is nice to be back among friends.
After I finish at the youth information I am not sure what will happen. I know one thing, though: my priorities have changed and I now feel sure that I want to have baby. Or at least try. The idea of having children has been growing on me the last year, and since I am 37, I don’t exactly have a lot of time. Ergo, I have to do something. Now.
But for obvious reasons I cannot do it entirely on my own. I am still single, so the question of who the potential father should be has been problematic. On quite an early stage I abandoned the possibility of using an anonymous sperm donor, except as a last resort. But sperm donations from known donors are pretty expensive in Denmark, and even apart from the money issue, I wasn’t too thrilled about that solution either. So after some serious consideration I decided to ask my friend S to donate. And he said yes!
To make an extremely long story short we are now ready to give it a go. We are not going to have sex, though. For me, sex changes things and our relationship is about to alter enough as it is. Besides, I am not romantically or sexually interested in S. Never have been, and as far as I know, he feels the same way. So no sex. Instead, S will come by my house next time I am ovulating and masturbate into a cup. Then he will leave and I will play doctor with myself.
Sounds rash? Insane? Or just very, very stupid? I know, and I feel the same way. I can easily come up with a thousand good reasons for not doing this. A million good reasons. But I prefer regretting that I did it, while I am drowning in dirty diapers and lamenting the lost chance of ever having a career, instead of waking up at 45 and regret not to at least have tried.
Hey, I might turn out to be as barren as a desert, which will solve the problem.
Except, in that case there is adoption to consider. Hmm…
Maybe I should just get some more cats.
So. Yesterday I moved out here to my summer house. For the next five months I will share my life with countless spiders, one bad Internet connection, four lousy t.v. channels, and three very, very happy cats.
The time is about 1am. The house is pretty cold by now even though the weather has been great all day. I am watching a crappy version of Aliens on t.v. and I feel a little lonely. Or homesick. Nothing major. I love my house and my garden, it just always takes me a day or two to adjust to living here. But I will be fine soon.
The Three Stooges aka The Only Y-Chromosomes In My Life Worth Mentioning aka my three cats – Gustav, Gilbert, and Gorm - can celebrate their 15th birthday today. Man, I remember when they were 8 weeks old and could fit in the palm of my hand. Guess they are not the only ones getting old. Fast.
Happy birthday, you guys. I love you more than you will ever know.
I have just had a revelation: the British tv-show Green Wing. It is without a doubt the most fun I have had since the Office. And that is saying a lot.
Do any of you agree?
"Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own."
Here they are,

My life as a student is coming to an end. Friday this week is the day for my final exam where I will defend my thesis in front of my not very nice advisor and an external professor.
I dread it will be an excruciating experience, but I am hoping for the best, of course. And I should have enough guardian angels watching over me; Friday September 22 is not only the birthday of two of my all time favorite heroes of literature and film; Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, it is also the day where Tom 'waaay-too-young-for-me-to-have-a-crush-on' Felton aka Draco Malfoy turns 19.
If nothing else their birthday will help me remember that I have a life apart from my existence as a student.
